Rapid tournaments around Madrid 13

Rapid, ajedrez rápido or simply rápidas, is the everyday tournament format around Madrid: a handful of rounds in a morning or an afternoon. The federation plays its rapid team championship through the autumn. Club series make up most of the rest: the monthly programme of Ajedrez con Cabeza in Chamberí, La Didáctica's circuit and opens in the centre, the Delicias club's weekends, the tribute and international events of Moratalaz and Valdebernardo.

Around the region, Móstoles, Tres Cantos, Pinto, Tielmes and Sevilla la Nueva each have a rapid of their own, Torrelodones folds one into its September festival, and Chamartín's chess day is built around a rapid open. The ABC Serrano tournament pairs an open with a children's event. Time controls differ from one organiser to the next, and some rapids count for the FIDE rapid list; the announcement says which.
