More about this list

These clubs say on their own pages that they take children. Academia de Ajedrez Chamberí has a children's group from the age of six and puts a children's tournament on its events list; Ajedrez con Cabeza, also in Chamberí, runs camps and includes a children's tournament in its monthly programme. Club de Ajedrez Tajamar belongs to the Tajamar school in Vallecas, which has a chess programme of its own.

Outside the capital, Coslada runs a school for children and teenagers on Friday afternoons at a civic centre, Getafe teaches in several of the town's civic centres and sets a lower membership fee for the youngest, and Diagonal Alcorcón offers children's classes and a children's edition of its blitz series. Courses follow the school year, so ask about level and timetable when it begins.
