Tournaments for children and juniors 6

Several series around Madrid set aside a section or a whole day for young players. Ajedrez con Cabeza includes a children's tournament in its monthly programme in Chamberí; the Amigos del Retiro blitz at the Cabaña del Retiro has a separate under-fourteen section; and Chamartín's multidisciplinary chess day pairs its open with an international children's rapid.

The Vicálvaro district tournament is for non-federated children and young people and is free with registration. Outside the capital, Diagonal Alcorcón adds a children's edition to its Slowblitz, and the tournaments of the Torre de Éboli club in Pinto are also marked as taking children. School events such as the final of the municipal school games have cards of their own in the tournaments section. Age bands and entry rules are set for each edition, so read the organiser's announcement.
