More about this list

Nearly everything in this guide is somewhere you can sit across a board from another person: club rooms that field teams in the Madrid federation's leagues, tournament series that take entries from outside players, bars with sets on the tables, monitor-led park sessions and a Friday meetup. They are grouped by kind of place, clubs first, then tournament series, bars and the rest.

A club being listed does not by itself mean an open door, because the federation's venue list gives addresses and says nothing on who may walk in. The clubs that publish their own timetable are the exception, and their tiles show the days and hours. If you want a game this week without arranging anything, start with the short lists at the head of the page: the walk-in places, the bars, the Friday and Saturday sessions. For any other club, write or call ahead and ask which evening suits a visitor.
