Chess classes in Madrid: clubs, schools and a shop 14

More about this list

In Madrid most teaching happens inside clubs. Academia de Ajedrez Chamberí, Ajedrez con Cabeza, Capablanca and Ajedrez Blanco y Negro in the capital, and the clubs of Getafe, Coslada, Alcorcón and Rivas outside it, publish classes; several also go into schools or teach online. La Casa del Ajedrez pairs its shop with a school for children and adults, and Madrid Chess Academy works from Collado Villalba.

A price appears on a card only where the provider prints one, which few do, and the language of teaching is hardly ever stated; assume Spanish unless a page says otherwise. Courses follow the school year, starting in October at more than one club, so early autumn is the moment to ask about a place in a group, the level it is aimed at and whether a first class can be tried.
