More about this list

Most club cards in this guide cannot say whether a stranger may walk in, because the federation's venue list is silent on it. The clubs on this page are the exception: each has a page of its own that invites visitors. Academia de Ajedrez Chamberí holds a free Friday get-together that needs no membership, and Octava Casilla in Hortaleza opens its Friday club evening to non-members. Club Ajedrez Delicias tells newcomers to drop in on Friday evening, and Ajedrez Blanco y Negro asks people to come by on whichever day suits them.

Outside the capital, Tres Cantos sets Friday evening aside for getting to know the club, Colmenar Viejo opens every Monday evening and asks people to come and visit, and Las Rozas Reacciona describes weekday evenings where anyone can stop by and play. Club Ajedrez Pozuelo receives visitors on its playing days and asks those coming for the first time to write beforehand. A welcome is not the same as free membership: where a club publishes its fees, the card shows them.
